Dear LeBron, I know that decision time is coming soon, but I have another house pick that I would like to share with you. This home is located in Purchase, NY, a very short drive to the Westchester County Airport.

Windsor Court is located on 2.14 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens. Enter through the black wrought iron gates and drive into an estate of European Splendor. Set in the circular cobblestone driveway is a three-tier Haddonstone fountain. The main home is almost 14,000 square feet with a total of 23 rooms, including 7 bedrooms and 8.3 baths.  This is a home built for entertaining with a gourmet kitchen and media room. Outdoors there is a large pool and adjacent wet bar/entertainment area. Of course, there is an indoor gym. I’m sure you’re a bit too busy right now to come take a look, but here is a Video Tour with all of the highlights.

Dear LeBron, Today’s home pick for your move to New York is Purchase Manor, a newly built Georgian Colonial in Purchase, NY. This home has 7 bedrooms and is almost 15,000 square feet. Sited on more than 3 acres the grounds feature a large stream-fed pond, pool, pool house and extraordinary classical gardens.

This home overlooks the grounds of the Golf Club of Purchase and I’m sure they would be interested in hosting a charity tournament for you if you moved in. If you are looking for entertainment, there is a spectacular media room for you to have your friends over and watch sports highlights.

The location of Purchase Manor is even closer to the Westchester County Airport which is less than a 3 mile drive. The Knicks Training Center in Tarrytown is about a 20 minute drive and Madison Square Garden is about 45 minutes away, but I’d avoid the Hutch Parkway during rush hour as that can really get backed up.

A short drive from Purchase is Port Chester where you’ll find a diverse blend of restaurants. If you like Italian, Nessa is a great choice, but if you are looking for a meat eaters favorite, the you should try Copacabana Churrascaria for their Brazilian BBQ. A great casual spot in nearby Rye to just hang out and watch sports is the Rye Grill and Bar. Be sure to try the sliders at the Rye Grill, they’re great.

If you’d like a closer look, Purchase Manor was featured on Open House New York. Here is the video from that show.

Dear LeBron,
Now that you are officially a free agent, I’d like to help sway you to the Knicks by finding you a home in the New York area. Westchester County, home to the New York Knicks training facility is our home and we think you’ll like living here also.

The home I’ve chosen for you today is the country estate of the late Brooke Astor, Holly Hill. I’m sure privacy is important to you and this estate is sited on 64 acres in Briarcliff Manor, a village of 7,700 residents located about 30 miles north of New York City.

Brooke Astor Estate in Briarcliff Manor, NY

I’ve read that your car collection is important to you, so I’d like to point out that this home has a 5-bay carraige house to house some of your collection. There is also both an indoor and an outdoor pool to keep in shape for the Knicks. The spacious grounds could easily accomodate an outdoor basketball court. There are 10 bedrooms so you have plenty of room for guests visiting you in New York. There is also a 4 bedroom gardner’s cottage which would be perfect for your mother Gloria to live in.

Location is an important factor in choosing a home. The Knicks’ training center is a short 7.7 mile drive. The Westchester County Airport, where the team plane is based,  is 14 miles from here. Madison Square Garden is 34 miles away, but traffic can get heavy on the Saw Mill Parkway into the City, so you should allow at least an hour to get there.

If it’s food you are looking for, Briarcliff Manor has one of the best Steak houses in the county, Flames. You can take Mario Batali up on his offer for free food at his newest restaurant in Westchester, Tarry Lodge, a 30 min drive to Port Chester. Looking to take your sons to the beach? Croton Point Park is minutes away and offers year-round events and activities and has facilities for camping, hiking and swimming.

I’ll be spending the long weekend looking through our website for other homes that might meet your needs. All of us at Houlihan Lawrence can’t wait to cheer you on with the Knicks.

There was an interesting real estate article in the Sports section of the Journal News – yes the Sports section – regarding what would happen to real estate and local businesses if LeBron James were to sign with the Knicks and buy a home in Westchester County. The home the Journal News picked for Lebron was a Houlihan Lawrence listing,  Rosewood in Chappaqua, NY.

Houlihan Lawrence COO Chris Meyers was quoted, saying that many players in the late 90s and early 2000s bought homes in Purchase, NY — when one bought several more followed because they like being close to one another.  With over 90 homes above $5m currently listed, LeBron has a lot to choose from if and when they call New York home.

Sports is big business with super-sized salaries. The residual revenue that a marquee sport figure could generate for a community is staggering. Read the full article, Area would benefit if LeBron came, from the Journal News.
